If you've got the new E46 M3 on order, please post your comments here! I have one on order and am wondering what the dealers are telling you regarding arrival date...they're telling me probably around May at the earliest...

What kind of information can you give me on the 2000 model? I may do the same thing but I would like to know a little more about it before I make the leap.

The information I have on the E46 M3 is as follows (may or maynot be correct...this is just the information I've gotten from the dealership where I have my order):

1) The inline six engine will have 340hp and will be the same engine as offered in the euro version.
2) Will have either a 6spd manual or the steptronic 5spd "auto".
3) Production is due to start in sept 2000 for oct delivery.
4) There are rumors of a V8 (400hp as used in the M5) perhaps being a luxury edition option...I've heard both that it will be part of the M3 line and/or that it will not be a M3 but a luxury edition of the 3 series.

Depending on where you live, the order list I think is already getting into the 2002 model...so if you're seriously debating getting one I would put the deposit down (was $1000 in my area) and then decide. Just make sure the deposit is refundable should you decide to cancel...I think it usually is...but dont take my word for it...check for yourself!
