You have a great site here. I currently own a 1992 Miata. As you know there exists a great web site with an immense following at miata.net. I wish you all the luck on this site as you attract additional members and discourse. I have been an admirer of the M marque since my first high school summer job in San Diego in the late 80's working at a local BMW dealership detailing cars. My first experience was with a 1988 Silver M3 with red leather interior, taking it out for a new inspection drive with one of the mechanics. Today many years later, and many miles away from San Diego (now in a suburb to New York City) I am ready to purchase a the 2000 M3, but have encountered problems with the two local BMW dealerships in Westchester County. One, they do not know anything about the new model, and two, they are unwilling to take any orders. I was surprised upon learning from this new site, that someone has a new M3 on order. I would like some information regarding how this order was placed? Or possibly through which dealership? Again good luck on your site and I hope to tell new experience with my 2000 M3 in the future. Hi thanks for visiting M3Forum! And thanks for the kind encouraging words! I think you will find the M3 at least as fun as the Miata...just with MUCH more power! I am surprised that the dealerships in your area have not heard of or are willing to take orders for the E46 M3...only thing I can figure is that they don't sell too many M series cars and thus are not allocated nor interested in dealing in the M cars... I placed my order in March '99...there were two people ahead of me on the list even at that point! I spoke with the dealership (United BMW in Atlanta, Ga. 770-476-8800...do not take this as a plug or endorsement for United) recently and I was told the new M3's are scheduled for Oct delivery. There are 12 people on the list last time I checked in November 99...which I think is more than the first year allocation for the dealership...and which I think is similar for most dealership at this point. I would call around because most dealerships ARE taking orders...and if it's going to be your first M, I would probably try to find a dealership that deals in the M cars on a regular basis. Good luck on your search and let me know if I can be of any assistance! Thanks for visiting M3Forum! Frank ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hello Frank, Just joined this site. Any ideas on what the approximate MSRP may be? When placing an order now, does that mean that you have to take whatever car the dealer gets, or can you order exactly the car you want (built for you)? Thanks ![]() IP: Logged |

Funny you should mention United BMW... I am #4 on their list! Of course, I put my name down Oct 99 in anticipation of the new M3.. of course, didn't DREAM it would be THIS cool. Anyway, what we have all bought were places in on a waiting list for $500. I've submitted mine, and theoretically I could be in a car by March. The pricing, or base MSRP is $45,400. No word on the options, yet. - Darkstar IP: Logged |
