Hello everyone,
When I ordered my new M3, I chose the option of having the side or lateral support in the seats electrically adjustable. Upon receiveing the car, I found out that the mentioned feature was not included. When I inquired with the dealer about this issue, they replied by saying that this option was not available worldwide. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone recieved a car with electrically or manually adjustable side/lateral support. I would appreciate you reply.

My sticker shows "12-way adjustable front M sport seats with thigh support". Mine definately has the "side-wings" that are electronically controlled by a toggle button on the front left of the drivers seat (the passenger seat also has this function). I assumed if you got powered seats, you get this option. I'm located in Charlotte, NC. Not sure where you are from... hope this helps.

Looking through the M3 coupe brochure, it looks like the electrically adjustable side support is part of the electric seat option, and not the luxury option. This struck me as sort of odd. The Luxury option gives you electric seats, of course, but not the adjustable wings. I wonder why BMW set it up this way.

E36 FAnatic: The Laguna Seca is mine... I'm in the Lake Wylie area... Am often in the Pineville Area. Heard that 6 different LS blues have been delivered through Hendrick since march... Mine is not so original anymore. See the car at: www.trippcat.com/m3/
Cheers!

The Width adjustable power front seats with 4-way lumbar support are an option (Option Code 0490, $500) only available on the coupe. There are adjustable air cushions built inside the side bolsters at waist level. At the press of a button, the side cushions are electronically pumped up or deflated, creating a wider or narrower seatback. When you order this option both the driver and the passenger seats get it.

If you order the power seat option (Option Code 0ZPW $1200) it’s included.
If you order a premium package (2002, Option Code 0ZPP, $3100) or luxury package (2001, Option Code 0LUX, $3100), it’s not and you must order separately if you want it.

The Convertible has special seats with integrated seat belts and extra reinforcements just in case of a rollover, and to reposition the seatbelt exit angle to a higher position, thus eliminating the possibility of offering this option.

I hope this helps!

I ordered the lux package because I wanted the sunroof. I got power seats and assummed that they would have the electric bolsters.
WRONG!! I would have ordered the manual seats to save weight and $s if I knew they did not have the bolsters. The seats are much too wide. Does anyone know if one can add the bolster option to a seat after the fact. There is a cut out for the switch in the bottom of the seat. Maybe everything is there but the switch? That would be nice...
