My new 01 M3C definitely doesn't have the incredible road feel that my 99 or 96 did. I heard from someone that it's bc BMW enabled a little more power assist, and that they have received complaints from all owners and may fix it.

Anyone heard anything about this?

When was your car produced? Have had two..one prod march 01 and one prod june 01..the later prod one seems to have more weight. Still not good as my E36 M3 (1995) but better than the earlier prod.

I think the change is confirmed for 2002. Thinking they may have changed for late prod 2001 as well.

I agree with most of the magazines regarding slow corner understeer problems, but higher speed sweepers are a dream!

Greetings,
I purchased a 2001 M3 from Momentum BMW on 8/6/2001. I had owned a 2000 323Ci
previously. I've been driving through some of my favorite turns with the M3 and noticed the
steering is very light compared to 323Ci. This occurs most when I'm making power through
the turn. I talked to service advisor and he told me to call the 800-831-1117 number. They
have informed me that a fix is in the works and you must request this change. They told me I'll
be notify when the parts become available. I'll let you know the results when they make the
fix...

Hey Dlubbers! I got mine their 8/24/01. I bet i saw yours on the showroom there! White cabrio? Blue coupe? Dealer was real nice........parts people and service department have been real snooty though. Thanks to all the rain lately I so far still only have 125 mile on the odometer. Sad i know. I'm anxious to hear any news about any upgrades or mods you may be doing via the dealer. Tell us how it goes. See you around!

I got a call from BMW last friday... I've been informed the mod to the steering to correct the light feel problem is NOT available for the M3. O.K. let me get this straight, the performance version of the 300 series doesn't get the upgrade but the grocery getter does? Does BMW usually make these sorts of decisions? i.e. screw the M3 owners!
