Did anyone else read about the 2004 M3 with 400 hp and a 4.5 Liter V8 or the 2004 M5 with a 500 hp V10. BWM is going nuts with this stuff. IP: Logged |

From Germany: In Germany: M3-2003GT streetversion:400hp V8 M5-2003 : 550hp V10 M6-2003 : 550hp V10 maybe in the USA less hp!like the E46 M3(333hp in US)(343hp in Germany) i ordered the 2003 M5 last month as i get my new M5 2001Hamann Competition! IP: Logged |

Patrick : I believe the US spec M3 motor and the German spec M3 motor have the exact same output. The difference in the numbers comes from a different rating system. IP: Logged |

The Euro and US difference is as follows: 5hp for the conversion from DIN to SAE, and 5hp due to the cat being moved closer to the headers on US cars. IP: Logged |

Thanks SJV! Wasn't sure of the answer. I wonder if there is a real world difference in the power. I can't imagine a 5hp diff would be noticeable on such a heavy car. IP: Logged |
