Okay, just got back into town, but talked to the dealer about 5PM about the car. They've had it since Friday. I also want to clarify that the problem that I had at the dealership before was with the Sales Manager and not the Salesman. I met with the general manager and he was very nice and a great guy to deal with (as well as the service manager)...so whoever had doubts about Grayson, don't. Just deal with the "right" people.

Anyway, two master techs worked on the car all day Friday and Monday. They tracked the problem to the alternator and some sort of integrated wiring harness with the alternator....it was described to me on the phone as a broken wire that remained connected when the car was cool but then became an open circuit or something when the car warmed up. A rep from Atlanta also was in on this deal. Anyway, I'll try to get some pics of the part posted tomorrow if I can. A new alternator and wiring harness had to be ordered from Germany, but BMW overnighted it and it should arrive tomorrow (customs pending) and I should have the car back tomorrow night. Just thought I'd keep everyone aprised of the situation....

BTW, they gave me an X5 4.4 to drive while they keep the M. Nice truck.....very fast.

Glad to hear that the problem resolved. It seems my problem was also resolved, if I deal with "right" people at Grayson.

BTW, it was nice of them to give you X5 4.4! How was it? could you describe it more?

Good to hear that they are resolving the problem!

BMW is very good about loaners...they give you another BMW. When I was having problems with my car I got to drive a 740iL, X5 3.0, Z Coupe 3.0, Z Roadster 3.0 and 2.5, and a 530i. Treated them all with total respect.

Thanks for sharing how things worked out...most likely someone else out there is having the same issues.

Well, gotta get back to the news about the attacks
