First I wanted to say that your site is great and gave me lots of infos. Thanks

I live in Quebec. Im on the september batch so i should get my car late october. I wanted to know what do you think of the H.K. Sound system compared to other you may have heard. And i also wanted to know if there was any confirmation about what they will change on the 2002's.

Nice choice on the car. The Harmon Kardon system is not bad but its not great. Definitely could use some improvement.

As far as 2002 goes:

1.New color available - Topaz Blue metallic
2.Blue soft top available
3.Bi-Xenon lights
4.SMG (available from November 2001)

That's basically it, if I remember what the dealer told me.

Hi Jake,

Congrats on your new ride! Im sure you're counting down the days..hours..minutes.

H.K. sound is ok (btw, I didnt get the HK system myself); for comparision, I would say it's better than the system in my brother's CLK430...but not as good as the system that was in my C5 vette. It definitely sounds much richer than the regular system in the M3.

I decided not to get it because of the rattling that can sometimes come from these systems. Rattles drive me nuts so thought I had better avoid it.

Suj covered the new things on the 02's. There's another thread about the facelift on the 3 series and whether it will happen on the M3 Facelifted M3. I tend to think it will at some point.

I kinda wish I had the SMG but then I probably wouldn't want to get the first batch of the SMG cars (note: they car already being sold in europe).

Is the SMG coming available in Canada at the same time as the U.S.? I thought Canada was on a similar schedule as europe.

Oh yea, someone else was asking about snow tires or chains for the M3...since you're up there, what do you plan to do during winter?

Happy motoring!

Oh By the way. Since we have a good four months of heavy snow, you get used to it whatever car you may have. But for myself, My other car is a Audi a4 quattro, and my company car is a Grand Cherokee so My M3 will be off duty during snowstorms )

Hi jake01, take a look at "speaker upgrade" post. I gave some remarks on the HK system.

Do not spend one nickle on the HK system. If music matters to you at all - go aftermarket.

I'm a music and a hifi fan - "hifiman"... I guess you can figure that out! A great car stereo ultimatly doesn't come close to a good home system, but it sure is fun!

I hear Canada has some very good aftermarket car audio shops. Good luck!
