I happen to be in Sarasota, Florida on business and as I drove by a BMW dealer I saw that they had a Titanium Silver on Black 2001 M3. I stopped and spoke to salesman. Although the car had a "Sorry I'm sold sticker" he stated that they decided today to sell it. The car was ordered by a guy that lives up north and also has a house in Sarasota. They have not been able to get a hold of him and it’s been sitting on their lot for over three months. The manager said today: “Sell it!” He stated that they would sell it for MSRP!!! It was their policy not to charge over MSRP!!!

I was shocked. I really wanted to just buy! I'm finally taking delivery next week on one that I placed a deposit for over 2 years ago at my local dealer. Then again, I could just buy it anyway and resell it for more. I just didn't have the balls to do it! I felt like an idiot as I left in my Hertz rental. Then I thought about our forum here and decided to make a post and see if any of you could get it! I’m sure it will not last the weekend! Here’s the dealer info:

wow that is a great deal! did you notice how many miles it had on it?

they probably sold it that day you saw it. with interest rates the way they are now, it's probably a quick way to make a couple thousand...but then again, i hope someone who is going to enjoy it buys it.

really good info Hifiman! that's like finding a hidden gem or something with the market for the M3 the way it is!

congrats on your soon to arrive M3! im sure that blk one was tempting but you did the right thing by waiting for your "custom" M3...much more long term satisfaction knowing the car was built especially for you.
