Hi again. I currently own a 2000 WS6 (ram air) Trans Am. I test drove a m3 convert yesterday and the acceleration just wasnt there compared to my TA....but I did have 4 ppl in the car and the car only had 11 miles. Will the car get faster withn mileage? aka the 1200 mile break in period? It kills me to buy a vert cuz its slower but i like the extas added. any help would be great thanks. i'll shut up for awhile now heeh. The m3 jus didnt seem to pull like my TA did........

How did you drive the M3? i.e. rpm range/full throttle.

The E46 M3 does seem to get faster with miles..at least it feels that way to me. Regardless, the TA is a fast car as well with more user friendly torque characteristics.

I had a 99 C5 vette and here's what I notice between that and the E46 M3:

1) right off the line the vette felt like it had ALOT more power.
2) once rolling, if I wind out the M3 to redline, it seems to build speed alot faster than the vette.
3) it's alittle more difficult to launch the M3, especially in sport mode which should be engaged for any spirited driving.
4) the perception of speed is less in the M3 so that my average speed on any road is probably higher in the M3 than it was in the vette. this, IMHO, is what the M3 is all about...the car, aside from being one of the fastest cars out there, feeds you all the information you need to reach your driving limits comfortably.

Hope that helped.
