You shift without using your clutch, in theory it will save you some time but IRL it will break your gearbox.

Right. Best thing you can do if your good, next to power shifting is jus shift with the pedal to the floor, dont let off the gas. You better be able to shift quick tho.

Shifting without lifting:

1) Apply pressure to shift lever before the shift, aiming at next gate. It WILL NOT pop outta gear on most all transmissions when they are under load.

2) Right at shift point, keep the throttle floored, and pressure on the lever, then stab the clutch to the floor as quickly as is possible.

3) it will pop into gear as soon as the clutch is depressed.

Experiment doing it at 3000 rpm at WOT on city streets before trying it at the track. Then move your shift point up higher and higher.

Note: It is harder on the clutch and syncro's than "speed-shifting". Speed shifting is the same thing, but you lift the throttle for a split second at the same time the clutch is depressed. You still PULL/PUSH on the lever.

With a perfect Powershift, vs. a perfect speedshift, about 0.1 second can be gained. I speed shift after going through 2 clutches in 24,000 miles. It's not worth it IMO.

Muf or McRat - if you shift without lifting, can a rev limiter, such as the one in the M3, help avoid engine damage on missed shifts?

If you mean missed shifts as in not getting a gear at all it will help but not if you go from 3 to 2 instead of 4, 5 to 4 instead of 6, etc.
