I am about to take ownership of a 97 M3 coupe Cosmos Black and I am interested in two lighting mods.
The first is the simpler of the two, I like the look of the front and rear clear turning signals and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a source. Are these an optional factory part or strictly aftermarket, because I know the E46 gen. can be fitted out off the lot with clears. What have been your experiences with different makes, who makes the highest quality?
The second of the two is a highly discussed and debated mod: an hid conversion. I have heard man cons and pros, but I think that better lighting comes down to two options: improved halogen lighting using overwatt bulbs with Euro ellipsoid housing, or a full HID conversion of the stock/euro headlamps. I would love to hear experiences on anyone who has done one or both. Can HID truly be implemented in a car that did not come stock with hid's, and if so do the conversion kits do a good job of preventing excessive glare and a difficult install. Are the higher power halogens a better option, are relays needed, larger gauge wiring?

Any insight and experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
