This is FAR from normal. I've had two M3's (currently driving a '98 M3 sedan) and they have NEVER burned any oil! I would definately take it to the dealer to find out what is going on.

Hope this helps,

Troy

Do you also get smoke coming out of your exaust pipes occassionaly? Do you have a burn smell coming out of your engine? Eating up oil is not normal. Hopefully you're still under warranty. Either way, save yourself even more trouble and have it checked out. Good luck.

Although your M burns oil, it is WELL WITHIN specs. I remember from another board (months ago) that the spec was someting outrageous like 2 quarts per thousand miles or something crazy like that.

My 95 never burned oil, even with the turbo. But i heard of many other owners having the same "problem" as you. I never heard of them finding anything wrong though, so that should comfort you a bit.

If you car just started doing this, then I would be a bit concerned. However, if it always has, maybe it is just "normal" for your car.

My $.02, Tim

Sorry for the delay. I HAD a 95 M3. AA stage I turbo kit with upgraded intercooler, blow off, etc. I did not notice any problems with my motor, etc. I DID have some tuning issues with it when I got it (it was used and tuned for another car). Jim Conforti personally tuned it for me after that and MAN WAS IT FAST. Jim is an awesome tuner. Anywayz, I would say go for it. The turbo kit AA sells is bad ass. It will kick ass all over a supercharger as you get full boost at a lower rpm, so you have more power, earlier. My car was in the Summer 1999 issue of BMW Power. However, that was before it was tuned, and was running really bad--lots of detonation, etc. So it did not perform that well. Let me know if you have any mroe quetions. Tim
