Can anyone recommend what tyres I should fit to my 1995 M3? Am currently running PZero's but I think it may be time to change brands. IP: Logged |

I've been using Michelin xPilot. I am not saying it's the greatest, but it serves me well. IP: Logged |

I had a 95 M3 and tried both Michelin Pilot MXX (which have since been discontinued and the Dunlop Sport 9000. I found that Dunlops had, to me, a noticeably more rolling resistance. Switched back to Michelins. I have the Michelin Pilot Sport on the E46 M3 and I dont like it as much. Squeals quite a bit more than the MXX's and seems to be wearing much faster as well. At the same time, not completely sure, but I dont think PZeros are optimal for the M3. I would probably try Michelins...you know what I did was took it to a shop that had an unconditional exchange policy if I was not satisfied (when I got the Dunlops) and took mine back after about a week. You might try to find a shop like that in your area. Good luck Frank IP: Logged |

My '98 M3/4 came with Dunlop SP 8080s. I replaced those with Yokohama AVS Sports and felt I gained some grip and communication at the expense of additional noise (not a big concern with me). Recently, the Yokos were superseded by Bridgestone SO2 Pole Positions, which feel a little softer but stickier and which are supposedly much better in the wet than the Yokohamas. The SO2 is now out of production, replaced by the SO3, but about a month ago, The Tire Rack had great close-out prices on the SO2; they were not much more than the AVS Sport, so you might check them out. From reading lots of posts on a variety of M3 boards, it seems most people prefer the Bridgestones with the AVS Sports a second choice, particularly if price is a concern. This ranking has been confirmed by two people I spoke with at The Tire Rack. Good luck! IP: Logged |

Yokohamas are not the greatest. I have two kinds front and rear and notice the Mich pilots are much better riding (not as harsh) IP: Logged |

WhenI had my 95 M3 I had Pilots (1st Gen), Dunlop 8000's, Nitto NT 555's, and Yoko AVS Sports. I think the AVS's were the best of the bunch. They were predictable (breakaway), fairly quiet, and seemed to wear very well. I did a few schools with the AVS's and I thought they did very well. I also thought they rocked in the wet. Now, I have not tried the SO2's (3's now), but hear they are excellent as well. However, for the price, I think the AVS's are the best thing going and I will buy them for my next M3 (which I am shopping for right now). Tim IP: Logged |
