I recently took an E36 for a test drive, great car, amazingly quick and made my 230SLK look like a slug.
But how is as an everyday car?
What about in heavy traffic?

I would not hesitate to recommend the E36 M3 as a everyday driver. Never had ANY problems with mine which was a 95...kinda regret selling it actually...should have just fixed it up.

About the only thing I can think of is the gearing...it can get alittle annoying at high speeds...but not too much of a problem.

As far as the engine temperament, never had any issues in everyday driving.

Go for it! You wont regret it! Happy motoring!

Definitely a Daily Driver!!
I've got a 95 with 90K miles drive 30 miles a day commute sometimes in traffic. Tractable and fun. Watch the Oil level though if you are on the hiway a lot, they do use oil at high revs.
Tires can be an issue too at about 30-40K per set..

I never had any problems with oil level but did change it every 3000 miles (probably excessive with today's oil).

My tires were Michelin Pilot MXX ,which I think is better than the new Michelin Pilot Sport, but had to change them about every 20K miles. Made my brakes last for over 35k miles though (replaced the pads and rotor once during the life of the car..sold it at around 60k miles).

Btw, where do you guys buy your tires? I am going to start buying them at one of the online shops and have them shipped to a place near me for installation. Most online tire dealers usually have deals with local shops for installation. That way, you dont have to have them shipped to your house. Should save me a few hundred dollars.

Happy and safe motoring!

I can echo the same statements. Great daily driver. I looked forward to getting in mine everyday! Seriously.

Wonderful in traffic. Handles like a dream, and has the power to get where you need to be with ease.

After driving the M3 for a while, I would always want to take my car everywhere as any other car I had an opportunity to drive seemed like such a POS. Seriously. There is just something about the build quality and engineering of the M3 that makes it so great.

I sold mine last year as I was expecting a baby--but that did not work out. Now I am looking for a M3 SEDAN (4 doors -- easy for the kid that is on the way now). Hopefully I will get it soon!

Take care, Tim
