A relative (on my wife's side) has indicated he is thinking of selling his 1989 M3, 55,000 miles, no accidents, in good condition. (He wants to get a Z3). I told him I would like first crack at the car, but he hadn't priced it yet. Kelley's and N.A.D.A. value the car at 10 to 12 thousand, but I see postings on the net asking 15 to 20 thousand for similar cars. Any thoughts as to a fair value of a stock 89 M3 with low miles?

10 to 12 k for a 89 M3 seems low..especially if in good to excellent condition...the car is extremely low miles.

the prices for this car varies greatly by region. what i do to check used car prices it go to autotrader.com.

kbb.com and nada.com are good but they are only estimates whereas autotrader has real cars from real owners.

if they're willing to sell this car for that kind of money, i would snatch it up especially if you know it's history. are you for sure about the mileage?? they averaged less than 5k miles a year...must have been a sunday car.

make them an offer for at the high end of kbb if it's 12k! all they can do is say no then you can just offer alittle more. the E30 M3's in good condition are not that easy to come by...alot have been heavily modified/raced/ or not properly maintained...and not that many were imported to begin with.

good luck and let us know what you decide.
