Hi, all!

I need some help from you guys in my color choice of the new M3. both alpine white and carbon black looks all cool to me and I can't make a decison. I would like to know what you think in terms of appearence, maintanence, and so on. The interior color will be black, I think...
Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Some pictures will be a big help, too.
thanks.

I personally like Alpine White (Gallery)

I like Black but for where I am, it is just too hot. Plus, black does not absorb light so it will show the most scratches/swirl marks whereas the white is the exact opposite.

However, I probably wouldn't go with the blk interior if i got the wihte. I have Imola Red but if that is too loud, there's also grey.

Make a selection and dont look back!

All limited production cars are unavailable for just one look to see how they look like in a certain color of one's interest.
Thanks to Frank, I got a pretty good idea on white. but the carbon black.....
Is there anyone out there who owns a carbon black? I found some pictures on the web and started thinking it's more like deep blue than black. Is it true only in direct sunlight?
Also, what is the benefit of metallic paint? Does it last longer?
I would appreciate any input. Thanks!!

For what it's worth I say Black... Makes you work harder in really keeping it clean.

I know it's not a M but I'm trying

Iv owned a few black cars and thay are beautiful if you can keep it clean and the swirls out. But both get harder to do with time witch is why my m3 is alpine white. Very classy and will stay clean for a long time.

muf has a point. the swirl marks suck on black. white is so easy to take care. check out the white w/ ir in the gallery....it is absolutly beautiful! but blk does have more of a aggressive look. it's all personal syle. if you are anal about your car as some of us, you'll understand about the swirls.hehe

You are right about it looking blue. It is a deep indigo blue. The dealer filled me in on that, but have not seen one in person. I am in the process of ordering one and will probably go with the Carbon. I am trying to go for a low profile look if that can be achieved with this car. About the swirls, technique is the way to avoid them, I have had no problem and my two vehicles. E-mail and I will describe if interested.

I've got the carbon black, love the color, hate the maintenance. You can't go wrong with either color. However, the black will show more swirls, dust and dirt. You'll have to stay up on it a little more. For me its worth it because nothing beats a clean shinning black car.

I haven't checked back to M3forum for a while and found many helpful inputs. Thank you for your help.
Guess what!!
Finally, finally, I've got my M3 last Saturday!! BMW didn't make a joke on "unlimate driving machine". I love the power and how it handles. Also, I love the color, carbon black. Even if I blow up my 5 years saving on one check, I have no sigle bit of regret. Only one concern I have immediately after my purchase is SWIRLS!!
wbmco8, could you tell us how you avoid them?
I(all carbon black owners) would appreciate it.
And Frank, UnitedBMW was wonderful. Thank you.

Cheers!

Like Evo-J I use Meguairs products. Go to the web site and check it out. I am not familiar with it so I will tell you what I use and do. With washing and polishing ALWAYS front to back motion. When you apply your products, front to back and when buffing them off front to back. You get the picture. I use thier Show Glaze, cool thing with it you can layer it to add depth to you paint. Then seal it with their Hi-Tech yellow wax. They also have a wonderful hotline. You can call with your make and model and they will advise you on the best products for you. Good luck with you M3, I saw the Carbon Black today and it is SMOOOOTH. It shows the car of well without being to flash. It is the color on my order list.
any more ? e-mail me
