Greeting,

I thinking about purchasing a used E30. I am planning to autocross occassionally probably in a stock class, but want to use it for a daily driver.

How long does a well maintained E30 engine last?

Are there any specific issues I should look for when purchasing an E30, outside of the usual used car cautions?

Thanks

basically it's that engine!!! make sure it has a full service histroy to back up the cars mileage (i.e. Insp 1 & 2's being done). And it doesn't smoke/knock/rattle etc (all bad news on this engine) Plus ALL the timing chains and associated gubbings need replacing at around the 100k mark, and this is fairly expensive. If your's is approaching/gone over this mileage mark, then see if it has been done. (bills to prove etc) bushes start to perish (suspension) and are best replace periodically. The rest is mainly as per any 'normal' used car. Get the best you can for your money, as a poor example can easily eat your cash away.
